tape data base
It is proposed to adopt tapes a tool used in ALEPH and ATLAS which is an interface to TMS. Free tapes are entered into the data base by the administrator. The user can book, free, define the content, list the content of cartridges.
It must be configured for LHCb.it is proposed to allow per user up to:
- 3 Redwood 10Gbytes,
- 2 Redwood 20Gbytes,
- 1 Redwood 50Gbytes.
==> related remarks:
Agnieska proposes to overwrite old production tapes: she will make the necessary enquirery first.
TMS was written in RAL and installed at CERN by T.Cass. HPSS is used by Test Beam groups, it is not yet in production.
AFS project space
- the project space is not backed up.
- 40 Gbytes are allocated, 39Gbytes are used.
- libraries: 5Gb, groups: 34Gb, free: 1Gb.
- it is proposed to rename the volumes to be more explicit: collect needs from each subdetector to define a good renaming and be prepared for future allocation.
- define one responsible per project space.
stage pool
COCOTIME has allocated 350Gb for LHCb staging space.
pool today add total
lhcbdata 85 170 255 cleanup
lhcbstore 65 80 145 no cleanup
lhcbmc 0 100 100
on lhcbstore there are more than 1000 files not accessed for 3 months ==> add cleanup to lhcbstore
==> related remarks
- lhcbstore, lhcbdata and lhcbmc pools have been move to shd18 the LHCb tape server.
- PCs NT can access stage pools through rfio.
3. Architecture framework : status report (P.Mato) (pdf)
Pere showed the coding progress, the testing:
- they are able to read SICB data files,
- they will get the MC kinematics,
- and make data avalaible to "Algorithms"
effort in numbers:
18 packages, about 200 classes and 27000 lines of code.
what need to be done:
- finish coding,
- integration,
- build realistic examples,
- access detector geometry,
- few more converters.
- port software to UNIX: hpplus and Linux
==> remarks
software should run on rsplus and rsbatch.
