Access to the Experimental SiteOnly LHCb members duly authorized can access the Experimental Site (Pit8). |
![]() |
As of Thursday May 1st, 2008, the LHC access system will be
switched to its nominal configuration.
Some changes will be visible at the access point at the
top of PZ pit and in UX85. One of these changes that
you will surely notice is that the
access the underground area and the experimental cavern.
Also the identifier will be changed and your CERN access card using the MIFARE
technology will no longer let you in.
In short you will need a new access authorization and
a new physical identifier.
The courses are available in building 55 for Level 1,2,3
(see
http://safety-commission.web.cern.ch/safety-commission/SC-site/sc_pages/training/basic.html)
and on the web for the other two (see
http://sir.cern.ch/)
You can skip this step if your safety training is up to date and valid.
(See
https://edh.cern.ch/Document/ACRQ)
It it is your first request (i.e do not have any LHCI-xx access authorization),
send a copy for information to your project leader and mention your project
(i.e. velo, muon, etc) in the comments.
Go to building 55 and get yourself registered in the biometrics database that
will be used to access in the LHC.
This involves taking pictures of the irises of both eyes.
You will also receive a token identifier, unless you already have a dosimeter
with the blue plastic holder where
the identifier is already embedded.
This early switching of the LHC access system to its
nominal configuration will allow you to experience the LHC access system
before the start up with beam and will allow us to get experience with the
functioning of this new system.
As for the past, ask your Project Leader to register your name on the
TWiki
page, under the project you are associated to and subscribe to
lhcb-ux85 mailing list using
Simba2.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
