Dear LHCb Collaborators,

Here is a summary of preliminary information on the LHCC discussion took place on Friday, kindly given by Don Hartill: 1) LHCC referees made a very favourable report on the LHCb experiment to the LHCC. 2) We will be most probably invited to the closed session in July to answer some questions and a satisfactory clarification will lead to the recommendation of the experiment. Details of the procedure will be settled later. 3) Following issues were raised during the LHCC discussion; i) Radiation damage of the scintillator at shower max. ii) Effect of the crack in the calorimeter iii) Potential of RICH in the Level 3 trigger iv) Effect of a smaller B field in the spectrometer magnet v) Choice of the inner tracker vi) Staging scenario and its effect on physics performance vii) Beam stability during the run viii) Progress on software migration We should prepare some answers for those points. 4) Following information to be prepared: i) Milestone and R&D plan ii) Cost and rough overall financing prospect iii) Organization and a preliminary list of the detector responsibilities

Don's remarks were very very encouraging and he highly appreciated our effort to answer the referees questions. I also would like to thank again for those worked hard to give answers. Don will transmit us additional questions coming from the LHCC committee members in two weeks for us to work them out. Let us make some more effort to answer the remaining questions from the previous list and these new questions so that we will achieve our goal in July.

yours Tatsuya
