Early Wednesday morning, May 26, 1999, BABAR detected its first colliding beam events, with PEP-II running
at a luminosity above 10**31. 
The BABAR magnetic field was at 1/3 nominal.
An early multi-hadron event candidate has been posted to the BABAR Home Page:
