Message from ASIS support at CERN :
As from tomorrow on (Thursday 23), StarOffice will be put in production in ASIS.
On which platforms?
-------------------
Solaris 2.6 and RedHat 5.1.
Unfortunately, we experience problems in having StarOffice running on CERN
RH 6 (we suspect troubles with the AFS client, Transarc has already been contacted.).
For other (UNIX) platforms, StarOffice is not available (yet?).
How do I start it?
------------------
By launching /usr/local/bin/soffice - which is a wrapper which will set up
StarOffice for you.
What support do I get from you?
-------------------------------
Right now, only issues regarding the installation (and the default
configuration) will be handled by Asis.Support. We are looking to improve
this situation and hope to be able to have a support contract
soon. StarDivision was taken over by Sun some days ago, and support
modalities have not yet defined. We are also in touch with other companies to see what those can offer.
SUN has set up a webpage with mailing lists and a knowledge database under
http://www.sun.com/products/staroffice/newsgroups.html . Please check it out
if you have problems.
Best regards,
ASIS Support
