Dear colleagues,
Contingent to not hearing any new and decisive counter-argument in the
forthcoming Plenary Meeting, the LHCb Management is going to propose to
choose the Pixel HPD as baseline and the MaPMT as fallback solution.
It is understood that in order to be definitely accepted, the Pixel HPD
has to fulfil stringent milestones by the end of 2000.
This proposal is in agreement with the recommendation of the two
referees Bernard Jean-Marie and Rolf Heuer and of the TB. It is also in
line with the recommendation of the RICH Panel, as endorsed by the RICH
Group, taking into account the Management’s appreciation of acceptable
risks and costs.
