Information relative to the use of radioactive sources at CERN and procedures
to follow can be found in the Radiation Protection
- Source Service web site
Managemenent of radioactive sources:
-
The Radiation
Protection group (SC/RP) maintains a stock of radioactive sources for
various uses. The RP Group is in charge of the purchase and loan of the
radioactive sources, holders and shielding, as well as the registration and
updating of the radioactive sources database.
-
All sources arriving at CERN must be registered in the radioactive source
database of the RP group.
- Anyone who need to ship from or import into CERN radioactive material
MUST contact the Radioactive Shipping Service of the RP Group in advance.
Instruction for the procedure are available on their
web site.
- People should also inform the
LHCb RSO so that we can enter them in an LHCb inventory of such sources
(link below).
Sources in use in LHCb:
- List of sources in use or foreseen to be used in the LHCb
experiment.
- Please inform the
LHCb RSO if you use or
plan to use a source not listed or if its location has changed.
