Minutes of the Software meeting held on 6 October 1998

1. News from last meeting: sicb++ (P.Binko)

sicb++ code has been installed on the CVS Repository.
Pavel will export it under $LHCBROOT and test it before sending
a news on the Web. A user guide will also be provided on the Web.

3. LHCb Offline Application Framework: status report (P.Mato)

The project has a Web page:

Please look at it for more details.

Pere presented the development made since last week:
- Main activity is Architecture design,
- Basic software development environment setup,
- User Requirements.

Pavel showed the MCEvent Class Diagram
Some discussion followed on the MCtrack definition.

Paul Maley introduced some definitions and their relations with
some Fortran key words:
- Transient data store can be seen as Common blocks,
- Algorithm can be seen as set of subroutines which do not access
the data store directly but get the data from a server.

- Some questions were raised as What is an Algorithm, a Method,
can you call a method from outside the algorithm it belongs to.

All these questions will be clarified in the coming weeks.
Definitions will be part of a glossary accessible from the project
Web page.
