You will find below a summary of the rules and information
 Visa for taking up residence in France or Switzerland only for UK citizens
If you are coming for less than 90 days per period of 180 days:
No visa or work permit required for France or Switzerland.
The secretariat will issue a Convention d’Accueil (Document to allow you to work in France).

If you are coming for more than 90 days
Living in Switzerland
No visa is required and related Swiss/French cards will be requested by the Users’ Office upon arrival.

Living in France

VISA D is required.
The necessary invitation letter will be issued by the secretariat and related Swiss/French cards will be requested by the Users’ Office upon arrival.

COVID-19 specific travel requirement for UK residents
If you are coming to Switzerland by plane, for short or long period a laissez-passer is mandatory.
Procedure to obtain the laissez-passer
Send an e-mail to the Swiss consulate including the following information:
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Nationality
- Travel dates and reason for travel.
- A scanned version of your passport.

The procedure is by email, no need to go to the Swiss consulate and it usually takes 2/3 days to get the laissez-passer.
