Acceptable use of colour slides printer 2-slide
-----------------------------------------------
Having seen the large number of unclaimed slides printed during LHCb
week, we would like to remind you of the guidelines for the reasonable
use of the colour slide printer 2-slide.
The simple premise is that each slide costs 1 CHF, plus approximately
0.5 CHF per slide of ink, maintenance etc.
The guidelines are:
- Print only colour slides. If your slides are in black and white,
it is MUCH cheaper (and almost as fast) to print them on a paper
printer and photocopy them onto slides (that way you also have a
printed copy to give to the minute taker...)
- Print only what you need for your presentation. If you are testing
the appearance of the slides, print them on paper (use 2-paper if
you need to see the colour)
- If you need to redo one slide, re-print only that one slide,
not the whole presentation!
- Please make sure you set your application back to a paper printer
after you have printed your slides - one major source of waste are
documents printed to 2-slide by mistake, because the printer used
by e.g. Powerpoint or Netscape had not been set back to the correct
default.
We regularly find large piles of unclaimed transparencies. Please think
twice before you print transparencies that you are not going to use.
