Summary of the meeting with the LHCC referees on 16th of May,
14:00-17:00
LHCC referee team:
David Cassel (principal referee), H.Schellman, A.Rostovtsev
Very preliminary idea on the project plans after TDR's was presented for
General LHCb planing by H.J. Hilke
   Magnet by W. Flegel
   RICH by D. Websdale
   Calorimeter by J. Lefrancois
They were all well appreciated by referees and gave them a feeling that
our planing is compatible with the expected start of the experiment in
July 2005.
The referees expressed their wish to have similar presentations by other
detectors at appropriate time. It was agreed that Muon for November and
VELO and Outer Tracker in January 2001.
The principal referee explained us the purpose of discussing the project
plans after TDR's already now when the TDR's are not completed: The
referees want to see that the over all plan including the time scale for
the submission dates of the TDR's are compatible with the expected start
of the experiment. They would like to be convinced so that they could
defend us from being requested to provide very detailed project planing
or similar documents by the LHCC.
Following the discussion on the project planing, a draft transparencies
for the status report given in the open session on 17th was shown.
Several useful comments were received.
After all the presentation, the referee team visited the Outer Tracker
test beam in the PS area. Bert and his Outer Tracker team explained
their test beam activities with the straw tube prototypes.
The next meeting will be on 4th of July and the mail topics will be the
RICH and Calorimeter TDR's.
The referees made their report on 18th in the LHCC closed session. After
the LHCC closed session, our principal referee informed us that the
committee was very much satisfied with our progress. I would like to
thank you for your effort and help for this pleasant outcome.
