Radiation studies

Radiation levels in the LHCb cavern have been calculated with FLUKA. For information on the software refer to the official FLUKA web site.

Old results for the  "LHCb-Classic-minus" layout (May 2002) can be found here.

Present results are obtained for the experimental layout corresponding to "LHCb-light". Primary particles statistics corresponds to ~35000 events. Comments about the geometry are here.

The tables below contain links to the results (postscript and maps) in different locations of the LHCb experimental set-up regarding doses&fluencesspectra and maps of statistical accuracy (rms/average) for selected locations. 

  Maximum and average radiation levels for 10 years of LHC operation (including safety factor 2) in selected regions are collected in a summary table.
